32 Days of Halloween XII, Day 7: Frankenstein!

Frankenstein (1931)

Out of the starting gates, we go to our #TrackoftheDay. And this time, it’s 1953 and Eartha Kitt with “I Want to Be Evil.” This is a “music video” (or as close as you could get at the time), obviously lip synced on some show with a live audience. And yes, for those of you keeping score, this song came out fourteen years before she took on the role of Catwoman. Talk about a long time to hear back about an audition.

Annie Award Winners Announced

Remy from Ratatouille

The annual Annie Awards, presented by the International Animated Film Society, were given out last night. And Pixar rocked the house, taking Best Animated Feature for Ratatouille, Best Animated Short Subject, and THQ even won for their Ratatouille video game. Futurama also took home the Best Home Entertainment Production award for Bender’s Big Score and Aardman won Best Animated Television Production for Creature Comforts America.

You can get all the details at the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive but some other highpoints of note are here…

13 Days of Xmas – Day 8: Santa Baby

Eartha Kitt: Santa Baby

For the purported birthday of Jesus, there is an awful lot of sin during Christmas. Greed and gluttony are the usual suspects with wrath and pride following close behind. But I would like to talk about my favorite sin: Lust. Seemingly neglected during the holiday season, it lurks under the covers with every purchase of lingerie and every lick of a candy cane. And there’s the fantasy of greeting Santa Claus with more than just milk and cookies. This naughty fetish is epitomized by the song Santa Baby where the singer wants St. Nick to hurry down her chimney but he better have some high ticket items for the privilege.

First, we have Ji-eun and how NOT to sing Santa Baby.
