It’s a Friday at 32 Days of Halloween, so let’s relax with some Looney Tunes. First up, the classic Hyde and Hare from 1955, directed by Friz Freleng and with voicework by Mel Blanc (naturally).
So as we march down to the Big Day, I find myself–as is usual with these things–finding a plethora of bits rushing in for room…and some hard choices must be made. However, it occurs to me that we haven’t thrown the spotlight previously on the man and the legend, Mel Blanc, and his smattering of holiday classics.
They are “Yah Das Ist Ein Christmas Tree,” “The Hat I Got For Christmas Is Too Beeg” and the Bugs-driven “Christmas Chopsticks.”
All of these are available on the Greatest Hits release as an MP3 download.
It’s Weekend Justice: the podcast that takes your New Year’s resolutions and breaks their back like they were a steroid-infused Batman villain. This podcast was engineered–some might say over-engineered–by experts to escort you from the work week in the most chaotic manner possible. Please note: this podcast is profane, definitely oversexed and definitely overwrought. It is wrong and unsafe. You have been warned.

You thought you had buried it. Perhaps far from the crossroads. Perhaps with a stake in its heart and a mouth filled with garlic. With maybe some wolfsbane and silver for good measure. But no. You can’t keep a good franchise down (and in a lot of cases, a bad one is even harder to take out). Halloween returns and, unsatisfied with merely owning the month of October, it has invaded and claimed September 30th as its own. Thus: 32 Days of Halloween IV: The Final Chapter.
That’s right, we’ve done four years of this nonsense. No, we can’t believe it either.
Year one, we began the proceedings with Mickey. We brought you more Mickey in year three. But on even years, it’s time for Looney Tunes. We did Bugs Bunny our second year, and now it’s back to Bugs and the first appearance of Witch Hazel in “Bewitched Bunny.”
Each week we try to give you something just a little deranged to jump start your descent into work mayhem. That way the rest of the week can only go uphill from there. Well, it made sense in the lab.
Anyway, this week we have something you should probably not watch if you’re about to fly. Simply because you might have nightmares about being in a plane piloted by this guy. Never trust somebody who hallucinates little people with propellers on their heads. Not to mention the disturbing bit with the baby. After this video, you’ll probably want to take the train.
In case you find this too disturbing, we have a sorbet to the sorbet with a much less frightening little person. You’re welcome.
