Interested in recapturing the fresh flower of youth? Forget plastic surgery, botox injections, illegal cloning, they’re passé. Join The Brotherhood of Satan and you can get a new body and enjoy causing horrible violence and death for the low price of your immortal soul. All a coven needs is a small town to cut it off from civilization with horrible death as the punishment for anyone trying to leave. Then simply lure children into your power while killing their parents. Don’t let the local authorities, the sheriff (Jones) and the priest (Robinson), interfere or else Satan will not be happy. You do not want Satan unhappy. If extra children are needed, don’t hesitate to allow strangers into the town, just don’t let them leave. Just add one Black Mass and you will be as good as new. Just ask the satanic high priest of Woodley (Martin) and he’ll tell you he was fully satisfied with the results. So contact your local Antichrist and join the brotherhood today.
If it seems I’m not treating this movie seriously, I’m not. It’s just too silly. It’s a low budget horror movie with all the clichés: the character that knows exactly what’s going on but no one believes him, the beautiful but useless girlfriend, and the bombastic evil mastermind. And the coven looks like the most despicable things they’re capable of doing is cheating at Mah-Jongg. Fortunately, the glacial pacing gives the viewer plenty of time to think of good quips for what’s going on. The acting is way over the top and the plot is a mess. There is a never a final battle between the townspeople and the coven. The townspeople never even encounter the coven. And the climax is a joke. Since there are no extra features on the disc, the only thing this movie is good for is to be reduced by your closest in an advanced state of inebriation. Besides that, don’t bother.
