Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega are two hitmen out to retrieve a suitcase stolen from their employer, mob boss Marsellus Wallace. Wallace has also asked Vincent to take his wife Mia out a few days later when Wallace himself will be out of town. Butch Coolidge is an aging boxer who is paid by Wallace to lose his next fight. Honey Bunny and Pumpkin are a couple of young lovers and small time thieves who decide they need a change of venue. The lives of these seemingly unrelated people are woven together in a wildly entertaining and exhilarating motion picture adventure that both thrills and amuses. — from Paramount
We’re talking about the 30th anniversary of the release of Pulp Fiction. (I’ll give you a moment to come to grips with the inevitable and fleeting passage of time.). Specifically, here we have a limited edition release with the film in both Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. You may already have these discs. In fact, the extensive array of legacy bonus content was on the Blu-ray released in 2011. You do get new stuff that’s not on the actual discs: new slipcover with pop-up artwork, reproductions of the lobby cards, decals, and more. But the hardcore fan or completist is the target market here. It’s a nice set, just make sure it’s for you. Or if you are using it as a last minute gift for the Tarantino fan in your life, it will give them a warm feeling in their hearts. It can be snagged from Amazon.
A team of pioneers undertakes the most important mission in human history—to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars. Oscar®-winner Matthew McConaughey stars as the ex-pilot turned farmer who is forced to leave his family and a foundering Earth behind to lead an expedition traveling beyond this galaxy. — from Paramount
The 10th anniversary of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is here with a quite decent array of bonus bits, digital and physical, to tempt you into snagging this. The legacy content was pretty extensive to begin with: covering everything from the costumes and shooting locations to the science behind the film. Here we get two new roundtables and a retrospective including insight from folks like Peter Jackson and Denis Villeneuve–all of which is around forty-five minutes of new on-disc stuff. New physical swag includes poster reproductions, a storyboard sequence, and reproductions of five crew patches. Nice. Fans of the film or Nolan completists will want to find this under their tree. You can grab it at Amazon.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen. Following King Aegon II’s coronation and the death of Queen Rhaenyra’s son, House Targaryen is divided in two. In King’s Landing, Aegon II rules from the Iron Throne, supported by Alicent and the Green Council, under the protection of the largest dragon in Westeros. From exile on Dragonstone, Queen Rhaenyra and her Black Council consider their next move. Civil war looms as both sides seek support from the great houses of Westeros, ultimately amassing armies — and dragons. — from Warner Brothers
The one thing that can be said about most HBO home video releases is that they come decently stacked with bonus bits…and the sophomore season of House of the Dragon is no exception. Main thing here are episodes of the behind-the-scenes series The House That Dragons Built, where each episode details a corresponding episode in the main show. While these are available on HBO Max (I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to just call it Max) these are expanded versions. And not just ninety seconds but more like ten-plus minutes. Worthy. Also worth mentioning is a Family Tree featurette which can help you follow who’s related to who and whatnot. Fans of the show will definitely want to snag this for the extended behind-the-scenes episodes if nothing else. And they can find that here at Amazon.
