Now, we have a fresh from the bakery Trailers From Hell episode with Joe Dante talking about Eye of the Devil, which I find astonishing that after seventeen years of doing this plus ages of being interested in the genre since my misspent youth and misspent adult years, I’d never even heard of it before. Also, I think it’s fantastic that Trailers From Hell is still a thing. For some reason, I thought they had closed up shop a while back.
My initial thought upon hearing the title of this film: just like 85% of the matter in the universe is missing, perhaps a good 85% of my own sanity is also seemingly AWOL. Thus what is needed is a theory of…DARK SANITY. The amount of silliness involved in this line of thinking is admittedly regrettable. Anyway, it’s a movie that underscores the advice my great grandmother used to give us all the time: never buy a house that a murder has happened in if there are still body parts missing.
