The Blancheville Monster!

32 Days of Halloween XVII, Day 15
Witch Commercials of Yesteryear

First up, we have a commercial from the 1970s starring Ruth Buzzi as the Jiffy Pop Witch. I mean…if you grew up back then, you gotta admit that the way Jiffy Pop worked was cool. Granted, we were very easily amused back in the day.

While this is a PSA to help you with dental health, all it does is remind me of how unnerving it was to see a frog with teeth that large. But hey, on the bright side, the American Dental Association actually puts their vintage PSAs up on the web so they can be enjoyed by all…and also so they can confuse today’s young people.

Is it just me or does it not bode well for your film when you release it in some countries under the incredibly generic name Horror? We have tonight the 1963 release The Blancheville Monster. The Blancheville Family is believed to be under a curse…one that can only be lifted if Emilie dies before her 21st birthday. And conveniently, she’s visiting the family home five days before that birthday. Oops. Enjoy.
