32 Days of Halloween XVI, Day 16

The Occult Mysteries of the Supernatural
Twilight Zone: A Short Drink From a Certain Fountain
Dracula (1979)

From Dracula (1979), Frank Langella as Count Dracula, extending his hand presumably to mind control you, the viewer

So you’re making a short documentary about high weirdness called The Occult Mysteries Of The Supernatural. How do you make it stand out from other such endeavors? Why, you get Christopher Lee to host and narrate the thing. And it worked! Certainly got our attention.

We dip now back into the world of The Twilight Zone but the radio drama version rather than any of the television ones. Hosted by Stacy Keach, these were usually most of interest for re-interpreting episodes for radio, usually with a nice bit of casting. In this case, we get to hear Adam West in “A Short Drink From a Certain Fountain.”

And to put the finishing touch on the evening, we go to the 1979 version of Dracula with Frank Langella as the man himself and Laurence Olivier as Van Helsing. Also on hand are Donald Pleasence, Kate Nelligan, and Sylvester McCoy. Director John Badham’s previous film? Saturday Night Fever. Enjoy.
