Get ready to roll out with the AUTOBOTS and their human allies as they defend the world from the evil DECEPTICONS with a Limited-Edition SteelBook™ set featuring six blockbuster TRANSFORMERS movies on 4K Ultra HD™! Debuting May 30, 2023, this out-of-this-world collection arrives just in time for fans to catch up on all of the thrilling adventures before the newest chapter, TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS, arrives in theatres on June 9th. — from Paramount
So as the seventh (!) live action Transformers film is set to hit cinemas, the chance to get caught up on all the previous 4K Ultra HD releases is here in an admittedly pretty sweet limited edition SteelBook set. Are you getting any new content? No, but the amount of legacy content is nothing to sneeze at: commentaries on the first two films, scads of featurettes, deleted/alternate scenes, making-ofs and more. So if you already own these releases, you’re good. But if you’re a SteelBook completist or just want to get all of them in one fell swoop, here’s your chance. In fact, here’s your chance on Amazon.
What would you do if you discovered an enormous comet will collide with Earth and all humanity could be annihilated? Emmy winner Mimi Leder (“E.R.”) directs an all-star cast featuring Robert Duvall, Téa Leoni, Elijah Wood, Vanessa Redgrave, Leelee Sobieski, Blair Underwood, Maximilian Schell and Morgan Freeman in a unique and dynamic fusion of large-scale excitement with touching human-scale storylines. DEEP IMPACT on 4k Ultra HD with Dolby Vision and HDR-10 is a must-have action-adventure for your collection. — from Paramount
Good grief, has it really been twenty-five years since the faceoff of the Death From the Sky movies (Armageddon and this one)? For its anniversary edition, it’s hitting 4K for the first time. Nothing new besides the hi-def, though the legacy content has a commentary, making-of featurettes, and more. If you need it in hi-def, though—and this is a big screen, hi-def kind of flick—this would be the way to go. You can snag it over on Amazon.
Take flight with the original 1941–1943 animated Superman cartoons! With the initial nine shorts produced by Max Fleischer (and directed by his brother Dave) and the remainder produced by Famous Studios, these 17 animated theatrical shorts were the first to launch Superman from comic books to the screen. The pioneering animated adventures feature the Man of Steel battling mad scientists and giant robots, thwarting the Nazis and saving headstrong reporter Lois Lane. Newly mastered in high definition, these icons of animation look and sound better than ever. — from Warner Brothers
Yes, the blurb had it right…this is the first adaptation of Superman to the screen (a radio adaptation had aired the year before). I can’t find out what the first comic book adaptation to animation was…could be this…not sure. Regardless, you get these shorts in hi-def for the first time, with two legacy featurettes and a brand new retrospective featurette for a total of around forty minutes of bonus bits. If you don’t already own them, or need the hi-def upgrade, this is the way to snag them. Regardless, every comic fan should give them a watch just for the sake of the history involved. It can be found at Amazon.
Starring Academy Award® nominee Lily Tomlin, and Oscar® winners Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field*, 80 FOR BRADY is inspired by a true story of friendship and adventure. Four lifelong friends set out on an unforgettable journey to see their hero Tom Brady play in Super Bowl LI and witness one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, discovering that it’s never too late to live life to the fullest. — from Paramount
Do I understand sportsball and the fascination with it? Not really, no. That being said: what I do understand is the desire of four incredible actresses to hang out together and get paid for it…and beyond that, a supporting cast wanting to work with said actresses and get paid for it. There are featurettes and deleted scenes and such, totaling to around forty-five minutes of content. Alas, no commentary. Because that would have been epic. Fans of any of the above actresses might want to check it out before deciding whether or not to purchase. And it can be purchased at Amazon.
The hit military drama SEAL Team storms into its sixth season, as this elite unit of Navy SEALs led by Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) must rebound from a devastating ambush on the battlefield that leaves the team forever altered and the team’s future unknown. This 3-Disc collection features every highly-charged episode, and nearly 1 hour of exclusive special features, including deleted scenes a gag reel and more! — from Paramount
With a seventh season in the pipeline somewhere, all ten episodes of the sixth season are here across three discs. The show is streaming, but Paramount has made it easier for the fans to justify picking this up in a physical form, since this has over an hour of bonus bits, including deleted scenes, gag reel, location featurette, and others. The uberfan will want this on their shelf, all others should probably sample first. Find it over on Amazon.
