Okay, so I really wanted to embed Trent Reznor and Peter Murphy teaming up on “Dead Souls,” but I can’t. So go listen to it here. It’s lovely.
And as long as I’m sending you places–I can’t recall if I’ve linked this or not but it bears repeating. A metric ton of old school radio ads.
But he’s something I can share–fresh off the digital presses. Danny Elfman did a live Nightmare Before Christmas concert…and this was the encore. I’m hoping a full concert recording of this gets released for real…because who doesn’t want Oingo Boingo with a live freaking orchestra. And hey, upright stringed instrument player in the front row rocking the Carnival of Souls look–you rock.
And holy shit, I forgot this was even a thing because the brain cell I stored that memory in died in 2002. But then Ken sent this over and jogged its corpse so I could recall it. It’s 1991’s Claymation Comedy of Horrors. If the style and feel seem familiar, it’s because it’s Will Vinton’s creation…other creations of his have including the California Raisins, the Domino’s Noid, and that creepy Mark Twain claymation thing everyone’s seen. (The best version of it I can find is here.)
And then…well, friends, we’ve come to the end of the line for another year. If you can believe it. I barely can. Thanks for coming out for 32 Days of Halloween XIV. And remember, this is only the First Halloween is you want it to be. And you can celebrate Halloween in your hearts 24/7. You just have to want it. Here’s the time-honored closing film. Enjoy.
