Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein! (1948)

32 Days of Halloween XIII
Movie Night #19

Because one of the things you do when a franchise is running out of steam is mash it together with other franchises in the hopes that 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 =$$$. That being said, it’s hard to think of a better result than Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. You’re getting two of the original actors (all respect to Glenn Strange, who would Frankenstein Monster as many times as Karloff) plus you’re getting the comedy duo in rare form. And while the plot is just as out there as many of the other franchise entries (Den of Geek does a great rundown of just how many times and ways the various monsters met their demise and came back–it’s like Marvel Comics FFS), it doesn’t matter because it’s comedy gold. Enjoy.

I know I harp on them often, but seriously, if you want Classic Universal Monsters, the Legacy Collection is the best bang for your buck. The Frankenstein set contains the entire franchise including this film, and gives you all of them plus bonus bits for just $15 at this writing. Good. Stuff.
