NOTE: Warner Brothers Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD featured in this post. The opinions I share are my own.
Out now from Warner Brothers Home Entertainment is the sixth (and final) season of Mike & Molly, the show that (along with Bridesmaids) helped launch Melissa McCarthy into stardom and earned her her Emmy and People’s Choice Awards.
This season wraps up the story of the title characters as together they confront the issues surrounding career choices, death, adoption, and wearing Fitbits. The DVD set features all thirteen episodes of Season Six plus a gag reel (which was fun, but I kind of wondered why they didn’t have more bonus features–maybe a quick retrospective with Gardell and McCarthy looking back over the series as a whole since it’s the last season? Comments from the creators on what doing the series has meant for them? Something.)
The DVD set is available on Amazon for $14.99, which divides out to around $1.15 per episode (episodes are available for individual purchase as well on Amazon, iTunes, and Vudu, but at $1.99 each–so it basically doubles the cost.) You can also watch the entire season if you have a CBS All Access monthly account. It’s not currently available on Hulu or Netflix, so if you’re a mega fan who wants to make sure you have access to the final season (and don’t have a membership with CBS), consider going for the DVD set.
