Before we get to tonight’s special television two-parter, we need to pause for a commercial break.
Thank you, Mr. Karloff. Now, Day 3 is when we’ve been throwing some classic Twilight Zone episodes at you, and today is no exception. First we have “The Lonely,” from the first season. You’ll easily recognize Jack Warden but you also have Jean Marsh (Upstairs Downstairs) and Ted Knight (The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as well. And director Jack Smight would go on to direct Damnation Alley, and Bernard Herrmmann (who provided the music) would go on to do some film nobody’s heard of called Psycho. See why watching old TV is good for you? Anyway…
Note: “The Lonely” is now only available via the CBS website and they have no embed code. You can find it here.
And then, as if we’re on a theme here, “The Long Morrow” from the final season. This one stars Robert Lansing (Empire of the Ants) and was helmed by Robert Florey (1932’s Murders in the Rue Morgue).
Both episodes were written by Serling himself. Enjoy.
Update: Now “The Long Morrow” has gone AWOL as well. Well…damn.
