Movie Night #8 for 32 Days of Halloween is basically “Rox of Spazhouse Presents.” We use a lot of her picks throughout the marathon, but generally when she finds a film it’s something special. In this case, we have Monstroid, or Monstroid: It Came From the Lake, or just plain Monster. And according to Wikipedia (which is always right), it’s also known as The Toxic Horror. But call it what you like: Rox says she likes it because it claims to be based on a true story. But we all know she also digs the hell out of John Carradine, which didn’t hurt matters.
But yes, the subgenre of “man screws with nature and it’s come back to bite us in the ass” is in full swing here. Also, I’m not sure the actor’s name…but is the guy in the wifebeater t-shirt and hat about thirteen minutes in…is that Danny Trejo‘s dad or what?
