It’s The PJ’s, out on DVD from Lionsgate. Here’s what they have to say for themselves:
A classic premise of a dysfunctional family paired with biting wit, this stop-motion animated comedy comes from the minds of creators Eddie Murphy (the Shrek series), Larry Wilmore (TV’s “The Office”) and Steve Tompkins (TV’s “The Bernie Mac Show”). “The PJ’s,” executive produced by Ron Howard (TV’s “Arrested Development”) and Brian Grazer (TV’s “Friday Night Lights”), features the voice talent of Murphy, Loretta Devine (For Colored Girls), Ja’net DuBois (Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle) and Pepe Serna (The Black Dahlia). Never before on DVD, the two-disc set contains the original 14 episodes from the first season.
A typical American family, the Stubbs are just trying to get by in their hometown of Detroit. Man of the house, Thurgoode (voiced by Murphy), serves as the chief superintendent for a city housing project, while his wife, Muriel (voiced by Devine) keeps the dysfunctional family together.
