Ah, monsters and ordinarily evil creatures fighting for the side of good instead of evil. It’s not a new concept. But two ways it was handled on Saturday morning were Monster Squad and Drak Pack. In both cases, you had a Frankenstein’s monster, a werewolf and a vampire. Sort of like if Universal had come up with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. In the live action Squad, they were wax statues brought to life that were apparently just like the original creatures. That’s our first clip–in which we have the opening and closing of an episode–watch the credits to see who played that episode’s villain, “The Astrologer.”
Then Drak Pack (the intro of which is our second vid below) featured teenagers who could transform into the three creatures in question, since they were descendants of the original creatures. In both cases, everybody wants to atone for previous evil deeds.
Sort of makes you wonder why a Creature Commandos animated series hasn’t happened…
