All right, friends. We’ve gotten a request to add the ability to be able to see just the open contests. That makes sense–we’ve got a slew of closed contests, so for those of you trying to hit all the open ones each day…how do you know where to stop?
Well, hopefully this will make it easier: we’ve added a tag to all of our open contests. Cryptically enough, it’s simply “open.” So if you go to the open tag, you’ll find a list of just the open contests.
Now, a caveat: is this going to be up-to-the-minute accurate? No. This might come as a surprise to some of you, but closing contests–i.e. removing the entry form–is a manual process. I wish we had some kind of high tech way to do it at exactly 12:01am each night when the contest is set to close, but we don’t. If any of you out there are WordPress rocket scientists, we’d love to hear from you. That also means that the “open” tag will stay there until we manually close the contest. And if we miss it, go easy on us. This is a new process. But we hope it does make it easier for you to enter and often.

By the way, I noticed “The Most Popular Contests This Week:” is out of date. It’s no big deal, but if it’s easy to restart that process, it’s interesting to note which contests are most popular. (If not, it’s not a priority. Just a curiosity.)
Thankyou for the “open” contest.. I never saw a problem but if there was one it is fixed.. :) This might be getting old to you but I am drinking a hot cup of coffee does anyone want a cup. It is good… :)
Now I see… I am so glad you did this.. It does make it alot easier then going around searching for the contest now there on one page or more.. Like it.. :)
Shaun: Yes, that’s out of date…I’m actually working on a redesign of the entire front page and the entire contest section that I think you’ll appreciate. So stand by for that.
Widge: that sounds ambitious and cool. Standing by. :) If you could make sure it’s still functional on older browsers, that’d be great. Within the past few months, eBay and Youtube have upgraded so that I have to use a friend’s laptop to view them. I need a new computer, but money…

Yes it is so simple and I really love the format and I wish some other sites would do this on theres it makes it so easy :)
Widge: I love that it’s available both ways. When sites and apps upgrade or change, some prefer the previous look or functionality. Adding the “open” tag while keeping the “contest” tag is a great way to satisfy everyone. You don’t even have to change your prefs to “classic”; there’s just a new option available.
And we didn’t switch away from real sugar either! Bonus!
