After posting that terrifying holiday mental sorbet from this morning, I decided to delve into XmasFlix, where it actually got posted originally. And it’s a YouTube channel with a wealth of vintage Xmas vids. Our first one is from 1898, which features the first appearance on film of Santa Claus:

Next up, there’s a terribly odd Russian stop motion bit from 1913. “The Insects’ Christmas.” And when they all start walking around, it strikes me as surreal and just this side of Edward Gorey. And it’s a helluva lot better than Zemeckis’ CG films, isn’t it?
