We’re still in 1934 with Karloff as part of Day Six of the Karloff Blogathon. And yes, no horror here–instead he’s in a historical drama and a film that was nominated for Best Picture. Karloff has second billing behind George Arliss. And even if you weren’t interested in this picture as a bit of Karloff history–and if you’re not then fie upon you–check out the final bit of the film, where it switches to Technicolor–an early usage of the color process.
What’s odd is that the film does not appear to be in print…not even on used VHS. I had to go to eBay to find what look to be home brew burned DVDs. Weird. Anyway, you can certainly watch it here. Enjoy.
