I first learned about author Jonathan Maberry when he was a guest at DragonCon 2008 on the Apocalypse Rising track, and the track folks asked me to moderate his panel regarding the book Zombie CSU. As many long-time readers of this site know, “If it’s undead and bleeds, it leads,” so I was pleased as hell to check out the book and chat with Jonathan on the panel.
This year he was back with his latest, Patient Zero, a techno-thriller that features zombies among the threats. As I mention in the ensuing discussion, it’s a page turner. I recommend you check it out. In addition to both of these books, we talk about his Pine Deep books, his work in comics, his impending foray into young adult zombie books, and more. Given the subject matter, this seemed like a no-brainer for part of 32 Days of Halloween.

For more on Jonathan, check out his Big Scary Blog, in which, among other things, he chats with a slew of authors about writing. It’s sort of a ridiculous wealth of info on the subject.
Thanks to the Apocalypse Rising track for having us, to Jonathan for putting up with me, and to Jon at The Unique Geek for nabbing the audio and video for this chat. Yes, audio. It’s available as a straight audio podcast here too.
