Our amigo Kebe pointed this out: Roland Emmerich is apparently not the first person to try and beat Irwin Allen at his own game. Long ago, there was a disaster movie classic that Emmerich appears to be trying to remake. Seriously, it’s almost a shot for shot deal except for now we have better FX and no Donald Sutherland.

The resemblance is downright eerie, don’t you think? I’m not usually a fan of litigation, but if John Landis, Jim Abrahams and the Brothers Zucker decided to sue, I’d laugh my ass off.

Funny, I thought the film Emmerich was secretly remaking was WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044207/). Mind you, if it’s really THIS movie instead, I’d feel a lot less cheesed off…
I dunno…the more I think about 2012, the more it seems like the BATTLEFIELD EARTH of disaster flicks. Which means it will be AMAZING.
