Bill Hicks returns to David Letterman‘s show. Seriously. Mary Hicks, Bill’s mom, is going to be on the show tomorrow night to introduce footage that got axed from Bill’s appearance in 1993. Apparently the show’s producers thought his routine was too controversial to air (especially his “pro-life” bit). Hicks never got a copy of the performance. Five months later, we lost him. The only extant copy of the performance is owned by Mary, who got it sent to her before the masters were destroyed and it’s never been seen by the public before.
Here’s the material from the routine, presented in an amusingly censored program from Trio called “Uncensored Comedy.”
