In an inexplicable worldwide event, forty-seven extraordinary children were spontaneously born by women who’d previously shown no signs of pregnancy. Millionaire inventor Reginald Hargreeves adopted seven of the children; when asked why, his only explanation was, “To save the world.”

These seven children form The Umbrella Academy, a dysfunctional family of superheroes with bizarre powers. Their first adventure at the age of ten pits them against an erratic and deadly Eiffel Tower, piloted by the fearsome zombie-robot Gustave Eiffel. Nearly a decade later, the team disbands, but when Hargreeves unexpectedly dies, these disgruntled siblings reunite just in time to save the world once again.

So we’re giving away the first trade paperback, “The Apocalypse Suite.” And we’re also giving away an Umbrella Academy coffee mug. Because we are Need Coffee, after all. Here’s the story on the mug:

If you’ve read issue 5 of The Umbrella Academy, you will recognize this as a replica of the mug that Number 00.05 drinks his coffee out of. You will also be familiar with the saying printed on the interior of this mug “Thank you for the coffee.”

WARNING: The materials used as colored decorations on the exterior of this product contain lead and/or cadmium, chemicals known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Right. So please DO NOT attempt to drink your coffee from the exterior of this mug. I know it’s a nice party trick and a great coffee shoppe bet, but you’ll just have to drink from the interior of the mug like normal people. Got it? Good.
