It was payback time from their previous battle, but Mummy came up short. Even at $42.5M estimated take couldn’t stop The Dark Knight‘s utter and complete thrashing of the box office, which came in with an estimate of $43.8M.
But can we please stop saying that The Dark Knight could be the number one grossing film of all time? Because when you level the playing field, you see that Titanic is only #6.
Update: Four freaking weeks at #1. Impressive. That hasn’t happened since Fellowship of the Ring.
