Columbia/Sony are now on board for a Smurfs movie. This after negotiations with the Snorks fell through at the eleventh hour and the Smurfs made a killer deal that the producers couldn’t refuse.
“I’m not going to mince words with you. It was definitely a Smurfing Couch situation,” Papa Smurf said. “But Smurfette understands and we really needed this to get back on top. Plus…they’re talking to Sean Connery about playing me. Wicked.”
The movie is to be a mix of live action and animation. If we had to pick a live action Gargamel, we’d say Gary Oldman. And if Hulk underperforms, you get could Tim Roth for Azrael. Yes, live action Tim Roth. Why do you ask?
Scribes for the project are David Stem and David Weiss (Shrek 2 & 3).
