CSI: The Complete Seventh Season. CSI remains the shit. Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) are finally together even though their relationship on the down low at the lab. Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) is witness to her erstwhile father getting shot. Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) is trying to cope with killing an assailant in the line of duty, getting beat down by the assailant’s friends, and then being sued by the assailant’s family for wrongful death. Don’t worry; the show is not descending to the level of soap opera. There are plenty of dead bodies, lab tests, and suspicious suspects to satisfy your crime cravings. There are even a couple of high powered guest stars for you to watch in Liev Schreiber and Roger Daltrey. And then there is the mysterious Miniature Killer whose eerily accurate dioramas of crime scenes will baffle the team for the whole season and lead to someone’s life being in the balance. As with the earlier season box sets, there is a tonnage of special extras with commentaries for seven episodes, in depth behind the scenes featurettes on two episodes (“Built to Kill”, “Living Legend”), and a tour of the actual Clark County Crime lab in Las Vegas. There also features on the aforementioned Miniature Killer, how to direct television at a motion picture level, and how CSI has grown from its first season. Click here to buy it from Amazon.
CSI: Miami – The Complete Fifth Season. Once again Horatio Caine (David Caruso) dons the sunglasses of justice to solve all the murder and mayhem that plague the streets of Miami. I guess the heat does make you a little crazy. As with the earlier season box sets, there is a plethora of special extras with commentaries for five episodes, an in depth behind the scenes featurette on the season premiere, and a tour of the actual Miami Dade County Crime lab.
