A couple of years back, an organization known as the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society pulled off an amazing film. They did an adaptation of The Call of Cthulhu and made it as a silent film, thus turning all of their disadvantages (the fact that they were limited in budget; the fact they couldn’t, you know, go shoot all over the world; the fact that it’s freaking Lovecraft for God’s sake, and he doesn’t exactly lend himself to visual media) into advantages based on the look and feel they were going for. It was a genius move. And it (and the fact the film was badass) is why they stomped everybody and won Best Single Title DVD for 2005.
And in the melee of 32 Days I didn’t catch that Scott posted the trailer for their next movie: The Whisperer in Darkness on the Gabfest.
Can I get a Hell Yes? Here’s the trailer below. And then below that, for those who haven’t seen it, there’s the trailer for Call of Cthulhu. Go to the HLPHS website. They have great stuff for sale, including the DVD.
