Okay, I realize we posted this last year for Halloween night, but it’s, of the flicks we have available on public domain to post, probably the one that I want everybody to stop and actually watch above all others. Without this film, we wouldn’t have great films like Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later. Would somebody besides Romero have made the leap from the voodoo zombies we’ve seen a couple of times during our 32 Days of Halloween celebration to flesh eating ghouls? Probably, probably not. But this movie spawned an entire sub-genre after all the other ones–vampires, werewolves, monsters, etc.–were firmly in place.
I wrote some of my thoughts on the film here. I know it seems to have fifteen different versions out there, but if you want the best, I say go with Elite’s Millennium Edition.
But anyway, the classic, saved for last. Night of the Living Dead.
