One of those rare occasions when both the original and the remake both kick ass, let’s talk Invasion of the Body Snatchers, in which our hero Kevin McCarthy gives one of the most famous scenes in classic sci-fi–standing in the street and yelling at the drivers that it’s too late, they’re already here, and they’re next. Genius. These days, drivers would just assume you were trying to raise money for something. So they would equally ignore poor Kevin.

One of the best sci-fi endings ever. In fact, next time somebody’s late to a meeting where the people get the reference, tell everyone “When so-and-so arrives, everyone do the end of the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers–and just like, that people will. It’s so satisfying.
And…was that the screenwriter who went on to direct Buckaroo Banzai? Why, yes it was.
