I’ve mentioned before that nobody covers the Beatles like Joe Cocker. Hell, nobody covers any songs like Joe Cocker. He’s the equivalent of vocal napalm, destroying all comers. Not only are his versions of “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window” and “With a Little Help From My Friends” totally badass, but he positively bitchslaps The Box Tops’ “The Letter” and I won’t say that his version of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” kicks all asses (but it stands tall next to Nina Simone and The Animals, so all is well).
Anyway, why am I telling you all this? It must mean there’s a contest brewing. Yes. Yes, there is.
