ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT UNVEILS DVD PREMIERE OF
BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON
The Education Begins June 26th
BURBANK, CA – The next great psycho slasher has graciously given a documentary crew unprecedented access to his life as he trains and plans for his reign of terror over the sleepy town of Glen Echo. Is this breaking news, or the beginnings of this year’s most critically acclaimed horror film? Fresh off its national theatrical engagement, Anchor Bay Entertainment proudly announces the June 26th DVD release of Scott Glosserman’s ingenious horror mock-and-shockumentary Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Receiving critical kudos usually reserved for mainstream dramas, Behind The Mask has enjoyed glowing reviews from The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, The Seattle Times and The Detroit Free Press, among many others.
The Behind The Mask DVD also arrives with a master-class of bonus materials, guaranteed to give expert instruction into the trade secrets behind the industry of fear! SRP is $26.98 and pre-book is May 16th.
Directed and produced by Glosserman from a script he co-wrote with David J. Stieve, Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon features break-out performances by Nathan Baesel (“Invasion”) who plays Leslie Vernon, and Angela Goethals (Spanglish, 24), and also stars international cult icon Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street, 2001 Maniacs), Scott Wilson (Junebug, The Last Samurai) and Zelda Rubinstein (Poltergeist I, II, & III, Sixteen Candles).
Set in a world where Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees exist, Behind The Mask introduces the young, up and coming homicidal maniac Leslie Vernon (Baesel), who aspires to follow in the footsteps of his legendary predecessors. A true self-promoter, Leslie grants documentary filmmaker Taylor Gentry (Goethals) and her crew exclusive access to his life as he plans and executes his epic reign of terror over Glen Echo, all the while deconstructing the conventions and archetypes of the horror genre for them.
The film was executive produced by Andrew Lewis and Code Entertainment’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso. Stieve also served as co-producer. Glosserman is repped by Endeavor and Steve Crawford at Nine Yards Entertainment and Behind The Mask marks the first production from his company Glen Echo Entertainment.
Bonus features on Behind The Mask DVD offer unprecedented access into the mind and methods of Leslie Vernon:
- Widescreen (1.85:1) presentation, enhanced for 16×9 televisions
- Audio commentary with actors Nathan Baesal, Angela Goethals, Britain Spellings and Ben Pace
