Wikipedia: Site Internals, Configuration and Code Examples, and Management Issues — Domas Mituzas, MySQL and Wikimedia Foundation Wikipedia is not only one of most popular web sites, it is also one of the most open. This also applies to its technology — everything uses open source, free software, and there are no trade secrets. This allows disclosure of most of Wikipedia’s internal technology including its content delivery network, application tricks, and database environment.
In addition, keynote presenter Eben Moglen, director of the Software Freedom Law Center, will deliver “Freedom Businesses Protect Privacy,” examining how “Free as in Freedom” businesses help prevent the ultimate privacy catastrophe. Eben elaborates on this concept by stating that, among other ideas, “Privacy is an ecological value, like climate
