This Old House’s website has an extremely amusing set of photo galleries filled with contributions by home inspectors, sharing some of the scariest shit they’ve seen. Some favorites: the light switch inside a shower, an old wrench and an exercise weight used as structural support, and a Cool Whip container filled with water used in lieu of a humidifier.
