Fight Fire With Virtual Fire

Halloween seems like the perfect time to get down to some serious gaming. But there’s gaming seriously and then there’s serious gaming…or something like that. This coming Monday in Washington D.C., the Serious Games Summit is occurring, where the gaming industry is going to get together with researchers, scientists and other such people you don’t normally associate with fragfests to figure out how to use gaming technology for other cool things like training firefighters and such.

Now this is nothing new and certainly not news on its own. As the ABC News article does point out, they’ve been doing this for military purposes for years. But this is the first time we’re aware of that there’s an actual convention-summit type thing to get everybody in one room to talk about it. And apparently it’s the second annual one, check out the website here. Man, do we feel out of the loop.
