Hellsing OST 2: Ruins – CD Review

Hellsing Soundtrack 2: Ruins

Label: Pioneer

The series with one of the coolest theme songs in anime, has brought us another soundtrack album full of driving tunes and interesting melodies. The feel of the music ranges from introspective to hard-driving, filled with guitars and bass beats. “Hatred Guy of Sinfulness” has a retro-punk joyfulness that’s hard to beat, and the remix of the show’s theme in “The World Without Logos–Dedicated to Malcolm X” is just cool transcendent. Even if the music itself weren’t fabulous, which it is, this disc would be worth picking up for the names of the songs alone: “Aha, Springtime of Life’s Erotic Hell,” “Good Bye Used World,” “The World’s Last Sagacious Period,” “Primary Colored Suicide Bombing Love Song,” and so on. If you like Led Zeppelin, Portishead, or just good music, then definitely check this one out.
