H2 Poster

  • Amazon‘s sale today is for all three seasons of Arrested Development for 74% off its list price of $109.94. That makes it $28.99. Not bad. That of course is for today and while supplies last. You can snag yours here.
  • H2 is the sequel to the remake of Halloween, with Rob Zombie on board to scribe and helm and then the film’s out next October. Filming starts in March. Zombie says, “Now, we’ll be hauling ass, and that’s the problem making a movie called ‘Halloween’: If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I’d be fine.” It is called something else, Rob, it’s called H2. Now you’ve got a film where everybody’s going to be asking where the O went. Source: Variety.
  • Cheech and Chong are getting an animated movie? Apparently so. It’s inspired by their classic comedy bits. “It’s great to be doing a movie where Cheech and I never have to get out of bed or be on camera,” says Chong. So are they just taking the existing bits and putting an animated version of Cheech and Chong speaking the bits? That being said, if Ralph Bakshi were to do a music video for “Earache My Eye” in rotoscoped style, admittedly, that would be awesome. Source: Hollywood Reporter.

  • I must admit, I don’t know that I’ve heard of this before: a sequel in production to a film that hasn’t gotten distribution sorted yet. The first film was Women in Trouble–the sequel is Elektra Luxx. It starred Carla Gugino, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Simon Baker, among others. The sequel will get many actors back and also add Tim Olyphant and Alicia Silverstone to the mix. The story is about Luxx, played by Gugino, who works in porn and finds out she’s pregnant. There’s a third film already in development. At this point, just release all three to DVD at the same time, be done with it. Source: Variety.
  • New Moon has a release date: November 20, 2009. This puts it up against three other films that I don’t even need to list here because they will probably have no impact on this film’s box office–this thing will draw from a completely different demographic, methinks. Source: Hollywood Reporter.
  • Apparently the post Superbowl Office episode will have the characters watching a bootlegged movie shot for the episode, which will star Jack Black, Jessica Alba, and perhaps others. Source: EW.
  • Tron 2.0 is getting a cast: Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett are on board. “Wilde will play a worker in the virtual world who tries to help fight Master Control Program, the villainous intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the original film. Garrett will play a siren in the virtual world.” If they mean literally a siren, that she’s going to sit on top of a pole and screech–then I’ll give them a dollar. Source: Hollywood Reporter.
  • Roundabout Theater Company is doing Waiting for Godot with Nathan Lane and Bill Irwin, as we mentioned previously, and now John Goodman and David Strathairn have joined the cast as Pozzo and Lucky. Source: Variety.
